About us
Hello! We are Wildwood Vintage Market and Kitchen Madonna Coffee Shop. Let me tell you a little about our beautiful shop. We are located off Highway 19 in Montalba, Texas, between the towns of Palestine and Athens in what was previously Montalba Methodist Church. In the early 1900's, this quaint but beautiful little white church building was rolled to its current location on logs using a team of oxen.
In the late 1960's, the beautiful stained glass windows, dated 1911, were purchased by a local gentleman of the community. The story goes that the Montalba Methodist Church members loaded the windows in the beds of their trucks and prayed all the way to the church for their safe delivery. The windows were taken to Victoria, Texas and re-leaded, then the congregation's skilled carpenters painstakingly installed them.
The Church beautifully served the community and its members for many years, joyfully spreading the love of God. Unfortunately, over time, the Church population dwindled to only a few members. In the early 2000's, the property owners donated the Church and land to the Montalba Community Improvement Association.
The Montalba Historic Chapel, as it was then called, was the home to several different churches and even a wedding venue over the years. After much deliberation, the Community Improvement Association made the decision to sell the property. The Chapel was purchased by me and my husband in the fall of 2024, and opened in the spring of 2025.
Inside Wildwood Vintage Market is Kitchen Madonna Coffee Shop, a full coffee shop serving drinks and desserts. The Market and Coffee Shop are run by three generations of our family! When you visit us, not only will you find antiques, vintage finds, plants, new gift items and locally made crafts, but also delicious lattes, teas, and homemade baked goods.
We love serving our community and meeting new friends, so stop in and see us!
Thanks, Patty Beckendorf
